Description
Castle nuts can also be known as castellated nut, flower nut or slotted nut. The castle nut contains slots at its end for a fastener or pin to slide through to hold it in place.
The castle nut spins onto the threaded end of your trailer spindle. In the threading of your spindle, you will notice a small hole for the fastener or pin. The nut should be properly torqued down, if the slots do not align with the hole for the fastener, the nut is rotated forward to the nearest slot. The nut is then secured with a cotter pin or L-pin. A castle nut and pin is considered a positive locking device, which means it cannot be worked loose from vibrations.
